Is anyone worried that this is how we're finally going to generate AI? That we'll just keep throwing spam and bots out there until some become sentient? Where are we at that point? We'll have a race of intelligences whose heritage is 1.) to take over things and 2.) to annoy the crap out of humans. I don't think that's what Asimov had in mind when he was talking about the laws of robotics.

Researchers: Botnets Getting Beefier
By Lisa Vaas April 16, 2007
Think botnets are bad now? We ain't seen nothin' yet.
"A select group of some 40 security researchers gathered on April 10 in the first Usenix event devoted to these networks of infected machines. The invitation-only event, called HotBots, was held in Cambridge, Mass.
At the event, researchers warned that botnets—which can contain tens or even hundreds of thousands of zombie PCs that have been taken over for use in spamming and thievery of financial and identity-related data—are on the brink of a technological leap to more resilient architectures and more sophisticated encryption that will make it that much harder to track, monitor and disable them.",1759,2114741,00.asp?kc=EWRSS03129TX1K0000614
