Ming - Fate Has Decreed What You Should Get for my Birthday

Call of Duty, Black Ops is being released only 4 days before my birthday (11/9/2010). And one of the scenarios takes place in the same year I was born! I can't tell if it's any good from the trailer, because I didn't wake up from my epileptic fit until a few minutes later, but maybe that's a positive sign.

Balls

Eryn told me this morning when I got up, "I got up in the middle of the night. I went to the bathroom. I played MarioKart. Then I went back to bed." She's never gotten up in the middle of the night to hang out by herself. I'm going to have to be a bit more careful about leaving Netflix fare like Zombie Strippers in the DVD player.

So the title story is also about MarioKart. This morning, when Eryn and I were playing she yelled out, "I was hit by firey balls!"

Pooteewheet said, from upstairs, "What?"

Eryn, "I was hit by firey balls! Not balls like Dad's balls. But, you know. Spheres. Firey spheres."

Personally I'm glad they weren't like my balls because it would mean either a.) I need to see a clinic or b.) we purchased the X-rated version of MarioKart.

This is for Klund - Mario Kart

Entirely altruistic, as your wife can't play Rock Band on Wii, we are now owners of Mario Kart. Including an extra controller (and associated Nerf wheel in green, Eryn's favorite color) so the whole family can race at the same time. We look forward to shooting the rainbow bridge with you over the wire. Sincerely, The Scooter Family.

Eryn - Bicycle, Gymnastics, Drums

A couple of recent pictures of Eryn. She's getting tall enough to ride my bike trainer. Just a few more inches.

We've got her back in gymnastics in Rosemount. Here she is on the bars. In the spring she couldn't hold herself up at all. She seems to have a bit more muscle to weight now.

And we got our warranty covered drum heads in the mail, so the band is capable again. Eryn likes to drum, sing and strum. Sometimes she drums when the Wii isn't even on.

Thanks

I owe Mean Mr. Mustard a thanks for the sushi set he gave me for my birthday today. Sure my birthday was two months ago, and he seems to have eaten the frozen lobster that came with the set, but I can find a use for the various Asian oils and lotions in the box.

And I owe Klund a thanks for hooking my family on Wii. Then Rockband. And now Skype. The other night we tried to use all three at once, and Rockband II failed us, allowing us to connect with complete strangers, but not the Klunds. I've messed around with my router, watched the traffic come through on the Wii IP, opened up appropriate ports, and I think we're still screwed. According to many posts online, often the friend-to-friend portion of Rockband II just does not work.

Wii Pole

In my spare time, I came up with the idea that Rock Band really needs a stripper pole. Just a pole with five buttons on the top and five buttons on the bottom, maybe spaced around the pole at various heights/positions instead of next to each other like the Wii guitar. The interface to the game would be the same, except the bars would have "H' for hand and "F" for foot. You could obviously cheat, but not if you wanted to put your video on YouTube.
