Expressive

This weekend, as Eryn and I were headed up to the Original Pancake House to have breakfast with my brother and nephew, I looked at her in the rear view mirror of the car and asked, "So. What are you and Mom getting me for my birthday?"

Eryn looked at me and waggled her pointer finger at me in a no-no gesture.

I said, "C'mon honey. You can tell me. I won't tell Mom you told."

At which point she slowly lowered the pointer finger and raised her middle finger.

I'd have been disgusted with her rudeness if it weren't such an absolutely appropriate use of the gesture.
