Mommy Deadest

Last night, Pooteewheet was tossing and turning and generally being a buzzkill by waking me up every twenty minutes. So I booted her to the basement guest room (with her permission) so I could get some sleep.

During my conference today I get two emails that explained the following: Eryn woke up this morning after I had left the house and went into our room. She tried to wake Pooteewheet up, not realizing that the lump under the covers was just several pillows and a bunched up blanket. When Pooteewheet wouldn't wake up, Eryn went back to her room and fretted about what to do next. She came back two more times, failing each time to wake up the non-Mom lump in the bed. After the third time she retreated to her room, hid under the covers, and wailed so loud that she later came home from school with a sore throat. By the time my wife got to her, Eryn was sobbing and terrified that Mom was in bed...dead.

In retrospect, teasing her about getting a new, mean stepmother because she's been watching too much Cinderella probably wasn't the best idea.

This may be my favoritest story ever. And I don't use words like "favoritest" lightly.

I am going to do the same thing for Logan. So that the next time when he doesn't listen to me, I will say, "Do you want me to die again, huh?"

That is terrible! That's it...you guys scarred her for life. Did she really say thought mom was dead??

Yeah, she really did. Sobbed into my shoulder, told me she had tried "Three times!," and "then I decided you were dead." It was horrid.

Sounds like Grandpa went South to Soon.

I can't say that was a good scare. :-(

Um, NO. However, she does seem absolutely fine. She hasn't been acting twitchy and she's not mentioned it since that evening. I think we avoided actually scarring.
