Kyle Can't Be Touched By Roma Downey

I tried to send a recommendation to Kyle on Netflix today for Touched By An Angel, Season 2. But Netflix wouldn't let me send it! It just kept repeating that I had to select a friend, refusing to accept that Kyle was a friend, or at least one that would watch Touched By An Angel, Season 2, despite his nude collection of Della Reese action photos, his bootlegged copy of Borrowed Hearts, and his Hummel angels cloud-themed collectible wall shelf, each angel with a little cut out face of Roma Downey taped carefully in place.

Fortunately, even though I can't recommend Touched by an Angel to Kyle, I can make sure his Christmas is complete with a music troika of Roma Downey's album, Healing Angel, Touched By An Angel The Christmas Album, and Della Reese's My Soul Feels Better Right Now (live! - easily my favorite cover of the three). It's the least I can do to repay him for the Madonna True Blue album he bought me in high school.

Why would I want to get Touched By An Angel, season 2 from Netflix when I could simply borrow your platinum-edition deluxe director's cut copies of both seasons 1 and 2? Or is this your way of telling me you aren't going to loan them out? Very selfish if that's the case....

I could pick them up when I drop off your "Golden Girls Season 3 with Special Introduction & Commentary by Bea Arthur" set that I borrowed last month. It leveled out my bike on the indoor trainer perfectly when placed under the front wheel. I only hope that Touched By an Angel can serve equally well.

I think admitting to borrowing Season 3 of the Golden Girls only incriminates you, as it implies you've watched season 1 and 2. You can still say you got it from me if your Mom found it in the DVD player - I don't mind. I'll take that bullet for a friend.

I know you're hoping Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan kiss and enter some sort of relationship that now and then involves Betty White and a toy with straps - but I think you're going to be very disappointed. You should just storyboard some more Golden Girls fanfic on your Mac.

I think the fact that you're telling me that I'm going to be disappointed just indicates that you've already watched the episodes and/or were already disappointed yourself by the outcome.

Besides which you don't seem to deny owning the Touched By An Angel series, and haven't indicated if you'll loan them out. C'mon, I'll trade you some nude Della Reese action photos for them. Then you'll have something to add to your Nell Carter and Victor French collections....

I think it's cold to be hatin' on Nell Carter. Fakin' da Funk was seminal.

I don't know from experience that you won't get what you want out of The Golden Girls, I just know that you have high expectations, the kind that might not be met in any sort of movie about several old women, outside of Calendar Girls.

I'm not really about angels, so you're barking up the wrong tree looking for a bootleg. I was Methodist growing up - we don't do a lot of the angel iconography, so there's nothing to fetishize, like happens with Catholics. I lean more in the direction of faustian Elizabeth Hurley and her devil outfits in Bedazzled.

Calendar Girls? I think you're thinking of Ming as regards that movie. Remember how he wouldn't quit talking about it on the trip out to Wisconsin - especially the fact that he had just received his brand new Calendar Girls fan club membership card?

Who said I was hatin' on Nell? I fully respect your choice of collecting proclivities as pertains to Nell, Victor and any other early 80's TV stars that might float your boat. Who am I to judge?

If this gets to be a problem, I'm going to have to break out the fact that you used to clap along to all the clapping parts in Sheena Easton's "Morning Train", and that you once stated that Terry Jacks' "Seasons in the Sun" was the only song that truly captured the way you felt about our senior year in high school.
