So much blood...

A quote from one of the flyers on the company bulletin board, "Employees who have donated more than one gallon of blood, are asked to contact first.last@company.com."

If you donate more than one gallon of blood, I hope you're contacting the hospital.

My mom got her gallon pin years ago. Then she tested a false positive for Hep C and they wouldn't take her blood again. Stupid - she doesn't have it and they lost a very good source of blood!
My favorite story of hers is about Mr. Drayna - old PE teacher. He gave blood, stood up and completely passed out. So much for macho guys!

And as far as I'm aware you can only donate blood once every 8 weeks here in OZ, so no gallon pin for us!

Scooter - totally off the topic but need your advice. I want to buy a bicycle trailer and to get a Burley here in Australia is as easy as finding a non-venomous snake. They make other brands but all my research always goes back to the Burley being one of the best and as you own one I though I would ask you if the Burley Bee is a good model. There is a US eBayer who is selling one with very decent shipping to OZ, but it's a big decision without seeing one. I'm off tomorrow to see the OZ equivalent but it's price is still $150US more then the Burley on offer. So is the Burley as great as they claim?

Edit: Deleted the other comment as my link was wrong.

Yeah, i'm a "gallon-er," but they no longer want my blood because i have traveled beyond their restriction. Yet another stooopid rule that took a regular donator off the list! And they're in the middle of a "blood drought." That's what they call it.

Boringsahm: We love our burley and it's a d'lite, which is a fancy one, but we bought ours on craigslist.com for cheap cheap. As we were looking for one, my aussie husband remarked that this is the kind of thing that would cost a billion dollars in oz. Good luck to you!
