Persona and Mulholland Drive

Pooteewheet and I watched Persona (1966 - dir. by Ingmar Bergman) last night and after a certain amount of watching, I kept thinking, "this is so much like David Lynch's Mulholland Drive", from the story to the photography. So today I did a Google Search, and it seems I'm not the only one who has these suspicions. That said, I liked Mulholland Drive more (Rotten Tomatoes likes Persona better, 92% to 80%), but that's probably just my predillection for David Lynch and that the former was in color and didn't have subtitles. But Alma (Persona) definitely gives Betty/Diane (Naomi Watts in Mulholland) a run for her money in the crazy department, despite Alma's whole confessional about her orgy with two voyeurs.
